Our beating hearts
A ticking counterpart
To their corrupted dreams
Their murderous machine
We hold the choice
To not participate
Determine our own voice
And turn away from hate
From loathing and despair
Their blood economy
Commodified humanity
We are a barrier
Determined and aware
Our outrage and our hope
Binds us, reminds us that we never stand alone
United minds
Resistant we intensify the power struggle
Rip kings from their thrones
Connect the dots
They build you up to watch you rot
Resist the pull
To demonize the individual
The power's in our hearts
Its in our minds
See through the lies
We're powerful inside
They built this from the ground
But we can fucking tear it down
We can fucking tear it down
The power's in our hearts

'Blood Fortune' is everything I was hoping Aanthems first LP would be, and more. It's got a diamond hard edge, but still brims with the warm heartedness both Ryan and Geoff are known for. The very definition of diverse, this album offers something for everyone: hardcore sensibilities, melodic turns, and some of the most singalong-able choruses/gang chants ever. It's been a banner year for Vancouver punk, but this has easily been my most spun record since it's time of release. thewreckedneck
