Sometimes, an inability to speak
I found a peace among the trees
No war, no famine or disease
The sunlight puts a pleasant curse on me
Through needles green
Tranquility
Balance it seems
Sometimes the world just crowds me in
I need a place to call my own
I play the record and begin
To deconstruct the universe alone
Untouched by the poison of progress
I mediate in silent congress
I won't let you in
Sometimes, an inability to speak
I found a peace among the trees
No war, no famine or disease
The sunlight puts a pleasant curse on me
Through needles green
Tranquility
Balance it seems
I breathe cement
Offer myself to the pavement
My payment's permanent
Enthused in my enslavement
These streets swallow me whole
No one to follow, alone I roll
'Blood Fortune' is everything I was hoping Aanthems first LP would be, and more. It's got a diamond hard edge, but still brims with the warm heartedness both Ryan and Geoff are known for. The very definition of diverse, this album offers something for everyone: hardcore sensibilities, melodic turns, and some of the most singalong-able choruses/gang chants ever. It's been a banner year for Vancouver punk, but this has easily been my most spun record since it's time of release. thewreckedneck
